I've created several cliche' characters, as you can see. The thing is, I want you guys to take these 5 characters and create a short story with them that is completely origional.
This is a contest made especially for Young Writers Society. If you want to enter but don't have an account there, I would suggest creating one and submitting your work to me there. You don't have to be active, you just have to have an account If you have a Teenage Writers account and want to use that instead, thats fine too.
The rules:
1. You must use ALL five characters. You can add as many characters as you wish, so long as you have these five.
2. I have to be able to tell which character is which without it being pointed out in the Author's note.
3. It has to be at least 2 paragraphs, and no more than 50 pages (Microsoft word, single spaced) in length.
4. No digging through some of your older work and changing the descriptions and names around a bit. It has to be a totally new story.
Basic stuffs:
1. It can be any genre. I tried to leave the character's costumes as open to interperetation as possible for this purpose.
2. Because I didn't give any of the characters names, they could actually all be one character. Still, you must specifiy which one is which with vivid descriptions AND seperate names. Ex n.1: They are all one person with multiple personality disorder. Give each "personality" names, and describe what they look like to the person suffering from the disease. Ex n.2: Lets say the teenager is a younger version of the older man. Make the older man "William" and the teenager "Will". Get it?
How I will pick a winner:
I'm going to do it on a point basis. This is exactly how I'm going to "grade" it:
30 points/ origionality.
15 points/ grammar.
15 points/ character distinction.
10 points/ overall effect of the peice/ whether or not I really liked it.
BONUS points:
1 point for each time you guess the eye color I had in mind for the characters while I was creating them.
10 points for hitting the 50 page mark.
10 points for using only two paragraphs.
^Remember, though, that you will only be rewarded these points if its obvious that you put quite a bit of thought into how you developed/wrote it, rather than just expanding/decreasing the length of your story. I'd rather see amazing stories that fit somewhere in the middle than a bunch of silly stories that will recieve no other points besides the bonus points.
You bet I'm going to be the only judge
If two or more people have the same score, I'm going to choose the one I like the most. It may not be fair, but thats how I'm going to do it.
PRIZES:
The person with the highest score/wins will get all of my points on Young Writers Society, 10 critiques of their choice, and a free request (should they want it).
The people with the second and third highest score will get 5 critiques of their choice and a free request.
If you have any questions, please PM me/send me a note.
ALSO-
The way to submit your works:
Create an account on Young Writers Society, and please send a PM to stirly (My account) with your story in it. If you would like it to be more public, you can post it under short stories, but it MUST also be sent to me by PM. Same goes for Teenage Writers.
ALL STORIES ARE DUE BY AUGUST 26TH.
In refference to the actual peice:

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
